Environmental Fair 2015
The annual Environmental Fair organized by the Social Justice Committee of Saint Anthony of Padua took place in the parish gym Sunday April 19 from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm. It is a family-oriented event that focuses on the need to interact with the natural world in a respectful and meaningful way. Individuals, organizations, schools, daycare centers, local government agencies and local businesses participate every year. There is something to learn or enjoy for all ages.
For the younger crowd the hands-on activities and craft making from recycled material are always a hit. Every year, Rainbow and Mr. T perform a puppet show on recycling with audience participation. It remains the highlight of the event. This year, however, as a special treat, several children from Better Beginnings performed a couple of songs on stage. Their enthusiasm was contagious and they received well deserved applause from the audience.
Over the course of the morning approximately two hundred people browsed through the exhibits and most came out with items and/or ideas to bring back home.
The Social Justice Committee would like to thank all the participants who made this event possible, and the visitors; mostly Saint Anthony’s parishioners, who made it worthwhile.
